2:02 pm - Resources

sand_woman
Anyone know any interesting online resources for male sexual health? I don't know as much as I'd like to, and this community is fairly quiet so I don't learn so much as I'd like. Personal stories, medical facts, or even academic (free sources) similar to something like theclitoris.com only for penises etc.

5:25 pm - waxing or trim

soulsex
Boyfriend considered getting brazilian wax but choose instead brazilian trim. Esthetician was amazing. She used straight razor to trim area. He said there was no pain, no discomfort at all. Entire area now smooth like a baby's behind. Just as smooth as waxing. The results looks hot and feel incredible. Why wax when you can have an ouchless trim instead? And I suspect avoid potential damage to follicles from long term waxing?

9:22 am - Circumcision Confusion

bellenexias
The other day, I asked my boyfriends if he was circumcised. I knew they answer already but asked him anyway. He said he is uncircumcised... but... he is most definitely circumcised. I went home and looked at pictures and did some research to double check. He is circumcised, no doubt about it. Is it normal for someone to be confused like this? Should I bring it up and somehow mention that he is indeed circumcised? Would me mentioning it hurt his manly-ness? Thanks!

6:17 pm - Sex and condoms

okamikaze
Hi all, I'm posting this as research for solutions to a problem my boyfriend and I started experiencing recently.

He's uncut, and we use Trojan Magnums, which work great for his girth, but he doesn't fill them completely out length-wise. Recently when we have sex with condoms, the combination of friction and lots of lubrication, causes the condom to unroll further and bunch up at the top, pulling his foreskin forward and pretty much cutting off most of the sensations to the head of his penis. There have been times when we've had to stop so he could wipe excess lubrication off and re-adjust the condom/foreskin.

Obviously this isn't an issue when we don't use condoms (I'm on birth control), but we tend to have sex with condoms more often than not for just-in-case reasons.

Has anyone had this issue before and does anyone have any tips on fixing it?

Thanks!

I'm posting on behalf of my boyfriend, who does not have a livejournal.

Sometimes his penis smells horrible, and we're not sure why. He's uncircumsized, and the smell seems to be concentrated on the head. It smells very much like the odor garter snakes emit when they're threatened. Definitely does not seem like a 'normal genitalia' smell to me.
He's not unhygienic--he showers daily and rinses underneath his foreskin, he doesn't sweat too much and doesn't get a lot of smegma. He *thinks* the smell gets worse after he has masturbated, but I'm not convinced that that's true...

It never smelled bad until a couple of years ago, when I had a mild yeast infection and we had sex before it was gone. He ended up getting a penile yeast infection that was awful--he had blistery sores and yeasty plaque all over the head of his penis and his foreskin, and it was really painful. And, it smelled awful...exactly like this smell, but stronger. He treated it with yogurt and vinegar for a week, and it cleared up pretty well and he went to his doctor afterward and got it checked out, and his doctor said the infection was gone and his penis was healthy again.

The smell largely went away too, but maybe once a week or so, we notice it. I've suggested that he go back to his doctor in case it's a low-grade bacterial infection or something, but he maintains that it's not anything that warrants a doctor's visit. So, PP, could it be worth a visit to his doctor? Maybe he never totally got rid of the YI (though, it seems unlikely that he'd have it for nearly 2 years without it getting worse or passing it back to me, right?)? Some sort of penile bacterial infection (I know that things like BV can plague vaginae--can penises have imbalanced fauna, too?)? Perhaps he's a half-man, half-snake demon-creature and never told me? Or is pissed-off-garter-snake a normal penis smell??

It is definitely not an STI since neither of us has had sex with other people.

5:05 pm - Condom Width

dust_mote
Not to uh, "brag" or anything, but how do you tell if a condom isn't wide enough? I think I might be a bit extra "thick" because when I tried one that was labeled XL it ended up producing a somewhat tight painful pressure sideways. Are the "sizes" they advertise, like S,M,L,X,XL,etc, are those sizes standard between brands? I would like to try some advertised as "extra-wide" but I'm a bit reluctant to buy a whole box of condoms that I may not even be able to use. I'm average length... just kind of need some shopping tips. :)

I have a yeast infection. My boyfriend and I had sex a few times when it was JUST beginning, but since I've known, we haven't had sex. He has some dry skin right under the head of his penis, and it has cracked a little. He has zero itching or pain, no discharge, no constipation or any other symptoms of a male yeast infection, absolutely nothing except for a slight sting when he touches the cut part (which is clearly going to hurt, anyway!). So, my assumption is that he just has dry skin, and when we had sex, it cracked. I gave him Dermasil to put on it for the next few days, and if it doesnt heal, he's gonna go to the DR. Am I right in what I told him to do? I don't want to be giving the wrong advice! Aaaaaah!

4:18 pm - pain in testicle, slightly bloody semen?
llhtlr forgot i had an lj account until today lmao. i normally lurk on vaginapagina and found the link from there, this is my first time posting here

so here goes - the last time i ejaculated two nights ago it was a little reddish like fresh blood in my semen. i freaked out and then i remembered a day or two before that i accidentally hit my balls kneeling on a box really hard i guess i misudged the distance. i talked to a friend about it and she said that was probably enough to do it but im still worried. my right testicle is still really tender.

would testicular trauma like that be enough to cause bloody semen? thanks

10:33 pm - boyfriend is disinterested in sex

gurleygurlpie
My boyfriend of over one year is disinterested in sex. Originally, the disinterest was caused by inexperience and performance anxiety. However, after many, many attempts to successfully have sexual intercourse and discussions about his fears/worries, we were finally able to have good sex. This was in the spring. His higher libido only lasted a few months though (late March to July). By August he was already disinterested in sex (not just piv, but ALL forms of sex) again. He constantly tells me how much he loves me, but it makes me think that he is only emotionally interested in me. I am the type of person who values a healthy sex life in a relationship and his lack of interest in sex is causing me to question if he is boyfriend material for me. We have talked about this issue on several occasions, but nothing seems to change. He blames in on his 'low libido' and 'not understanding his own body'. I have encouraged him to practice masturbating as a way for him to become more knowledgeable about his body (since he only masturbated in his junior year of high school/when he was sixteen years old) and/or to seek professional guidance. He seems to listen to my suggestions, but does not act upon them. I am beginning to question his sexuality/maturity since he expresses no interest in having any type of sex. Any advice on what to do about this situation? I am about to throw in the towel out of frustration and rejection.

11:03 pm - Amounts of pre-cum?

kwaniesiam
I was wondering how much pre-cum is considered "normal", or if more or less means anything specific? During foreplay, I noticed my bf will have a lot of pre-cum, usually enough to leave a damp spot that soaks through both boxers and pants, and then some. Is there any particular reason for this, or does it all just depend on the person? Thank you for any input.

Hi!

I took a look at the memories but didn't find this.

I was watching some porn and the boys there are so well shaved. Their balls look all smooth. That would make a lot of things easier for me when pleasuring my guy. He's mentioned he's tried before but that it seems really difficult to shave his balls.

Is there a way to do this and we just dont know it? Tips?

Thnaks a lot.

11:22 am - Semen color?

want2ridemybike
Does semen have different colors? Does this vary one man to the next because of genetics? Or with diet or something else?

I ask because I always thought it was white, but my boyfriend's is clear and it made me curious.

2:57 pm - headaches

resonanteye
Asking for a Luddite man friend of mine...It's not exactly penis-related, but it seemed I might get decent advice here as opposed to another comm. (xposted tomenzhealth just in case)

He gets very bad headaches, only started recently.info and detailsCollapse )
Short form: headache cures? headache causes? How can I help him feel better? And has anyone had any personal experience with this?

11:29 am - Sensitivity loss?

antistatic_86
My boyfriend has been losing sensitivity in the head of his penis for three to four weeks now. He is uncircumcised, and is a moderate masturbator. We don't get the opportunity to be together four days a week, so he'll take care of things on his own a few times. But neither of these is a new development.

I was having some vaginal irritation issues at the start of our relationship, so we didn't start having PIV sex on a regular basis until about mid-January, just about two months ago.

He's also on Celexa, or a generic. I suspect the particular type of pill he was taking changed (even though he insists otherwise. He switched doctors and got a new prescription. Other side effects have changed, too, and when it comes to things like this, [much as I love him!] he is not the most observant guy ever).

So, my question is, could the loss of sensitivity be attributed to a change in pill? Or any of the other reasons listed? Any other ideas?

5:07 pm - Dry Penis

skeas
My boyfriend's penis has been really dry recently, to the point that the skin is hard and rough and almost leathery. He says that it has really decreased sensitivity. He hasn't been masturbating, and he's been putting lotion on it when he remembers, but so far there's been no change. We live in the desert and have pretty dry winters, but he says that this has never happened to him before.

What to do?

soulmaking I feel so hopeless I feel like I'm about to die. I destroyed my penis. I was wondering if anyone knew of any news of stem cells that could help save a penis?

9:41 pm - Pills and Creams and Scams

soulsex
I can't believe ads still appear on TV and in print pushing male enhancement products.

Are there guys out there who have really benefitted from products like these? From the pills and the pumps and the creams, etc.? I am assuming none of these products really work...that's why it's hard to figure out how the companies get away with blatantly false ad campaigns.

How do they get away with exploiting men and women's insecurities like this?

2:42 pm - Frostbite
ralphkns Hey everyone. I was caught outside last new year's eve in extreme cold (wind chill of -18F); I got mild frostbite on my glans (I am circumcised) and made a bad move by pouring warm water on it while it was still numb, which I learned too late is bad for you. It's recovered slowly over the past few days, but the skin on my glans doesn't look quite the same. Stimulation doesn't feel exactly the same as it used to either, but that could just be all in my head (no pun intended).

Do I need to see a doctor? I was planning on starting to restore soon, but might wait a while. It's been several days, and each day it seems a little more normal.

2:29 am - Fleshlight too tight?
noumignon I bought a Fleshlight, and it was uncomfortably tight, so I stopped using it. Then, a couple months later, I realized you can unscrew the bottom for less air pressure and that was a major improvement. But it's still too tight. Do I have insufficient hydraulic pressure in my penis, or is this thing designed for hardcore masturbators who need a death grip to get off? The expanded line of products includes an "ultra tight" and "super tight" model, so I'm thinking this is the loosest one they've got.

If the Fleshlight is too tight for me, will I have similar problems with a live vagina? Not that I'm really expecting to encounter one, I'm just curious. Anyway, I've just gone back to my regular water wings where the air pressure is adjustable.
